ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkish media reports say a Russian cargo ship has run aground off Istanbul and rescuers were trying to evacuate its 11 crew members.
The Dogan news agency said the Volgo Don 203 ran aground in high winds late Friday off Istanbul's Kartal district, in the Sea of Marmara.
The coast guard, sea police, firefighters and ambulances were dispatched to rescue the crew.
The state-run Anadolu Agency reports that a second ship also ran aground in the area and its crew was safely evacuated.
