MEXICO CITY (AP) — Authorities in southern Mexico say three Federal Police officers were shot dead at a market in an attack that also wounded two civilians.
Guerrero state prosecutors said Friday in a statement that the officers were eating at the market in the city of Chilapa when they were gunned down by unknown attackers bearing high-caliber firearms.
The wounded civilians were hospitalized in emergency wards.
Guerrero has become one of Mexico's deadliest states, wracked by turf battles between rival drug gangs.
