Fonnesbeck appointed District Court judge in northern Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Gov. Gary Herbert has appointed a Juvenile Court judge and former public defender to fill a District Court vacancy in northern Utah.

Herbert's office Friday announced his appointment of Angela F. Fonnesbeck as a judge for the 1st District Court, which includes Box Elder, Cache and Rich counties.

Fonnesbeck was appointed to fill a vacancy created by Judge Kevin K. Allen's retirement las October.

This appointment is subject to confirmation by the Utah Senate, which said Friday the Judicial Confirmation Committee is seeking public comment on Fonnesbeck.
