SALTAIR, Utah (AP) — Authorities have identified a pedestrian who was fatally struck on a major interstate near Saltair.

The Daily Herald of Provo reports that Utah Highway Patrol says Bo Shepherd, of Pleasant Grove, had been hit several times Sunday.

The 28-year-old man's body was initially found around 3:30 a.m. with no identification. Authorities released details about his clothing and several tattoos, which led to family members identifying him.

According to patrol officers, several people reported a body lying in a westbound lane of Interstate 80 near the State Route 202 overpass.

UHP investigators believe Shepherd may have been on the overpass and then fell onto the interstate.

The investigation remains ongoing.
