BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes says it wants an apology from the city of Pocatello because of discriminatory language used in city lease agreements at the Pocatello Regional Airport.
The Idaho State Journal reports that the Federal Aviation Administration began investigating possible discriminatory lease language in 2016.
The tribes said in a news release Thursday that the FAA earlier this month found that a provision in the city's airport lease language discriminated against the tribes. The provision said anyone renting space from the city at the airport will not enter into any written agreement with the tribes without city approval.
The city said in a statement Thursday that the lease language was changed last year and it is now in full compliance. The city said it didn't intend to discriminate but that there will be no public apology.
