WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) — A 26-year-old Utah man has been arrested following a standoff with a SWAT team at an apartment complex in suburban Salt Lake City.
Police say the incident began Tuesday evening when Troy Archuletta attacked his girlfriend and retreated into an apartment in West Valley City with the woman's 5-year-old son and a 15-year-old niece.
Assistant Police Chief Matt Elson told KSL-TV that officers negotiated with him for nearly three hours before persuading him to surrender.
He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, criminal mischief and two counts of domestic violence in the presence of a child.
It's not clear if he has a lawyer or will be appointed one at a pending court appearance.
