SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say a 3-year-old girl is in critical condition after she fell out of a second-story window.
The Deseret News reports that Spanish Fork Police Sgt. Chris Sheriff said Monday that the girl was on a bed next to a window Sunday and put her hands on a window screen. He says the window screen popped out and the girl fell about 13 feet (4 meters) on to a cement porch below.
Sheriff says investigators think she might have landed on her head.
The girl was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Provo and then flown by helicopter to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City.
The incident happened in Spanish Fork, a city of about 38,000 about 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of Salt Lake City.
