OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A former police officer in southeastern Oklahoma has been sentenced to more than eight years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman during a traffic stop.

Federal prosecutors say former Savanna officer Jerry Lynn Gragg Jr. was sentenced Thursday to 100 months in prison for the 2017 assault. Gragg was also ordered to surrender his law enforcement certification and register as a sex offender when he's released from prison.

Gragg pleaded guilty last year to violating the civil rights of the woman he took into custody.

Investigators say Gragg was on duty when he stopped the woman's vehicle and brought her back to his patrol car. They say Gragg told the woman to sit in the front passenger seat, putting her in a situation where "she could not escape," and then assaulted her.
