HERRIMAN, Utah (AP) — The Latest on a Utah manhunt (all times local):

4:20 p.m.

The Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake says it has identified a suspect who is the subject of a manhunt.

The department identifies the suspect as 33 year-old Justin Gary Llewelyn of Riverton and asks that he turn himself in. The department also invites other people to provide information on his whereabouts.

The manhunt began Saturday morning in the southwestern fringe of the Salt Lake City metro area after a suspect reportedly exchanged gunfire with police officers and also entered a home, shot and wounded a resident and stole his car.

According to police, the suspect and two officers exchanged gunfire after one officer thought a person at a Riverton apartment complex might be a prowler. The officers and the suspect weren't injured.

The stolen car was late found abandoned near the reservoir.

A manhunt continues in the southwestern fringe of the Salt Lake City metro area for a suspect who reportedly exchanged gunfire with police officers and also entered a home, shot and wounded a resident and stole his car.

The Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake says it continues to search for the suspect but that the area north of Blackridge Reservoir where residents are urged to shelter in place has been reduced in size.

Police are advising residents and businesses in the area to remain inside and lock their doors while the search continues Saturday.

According to police, the suspect and two officers exchanged gunfire after the officer thought a person at a Riverton apartment complex might be a prowler. The officers and the suspect weren't injured.

8:50 a.m.

Unified Police in the southwestern fringe of the Salt Lake City metro area are searching for a suspect who shot a driver, stole his car and exchanged gunfire with an officer Saturday.

Residents in the search area in Herriman and Riverton are being asked to lock their doors, remain indoors and report suspicious activity to police.

Police say the wounded driver is hospitalized in serious condition but that the suspect and the officer weren't hit in their exchange of gunfire.

The only description of suspect is that he has facial hair and was wearing dark clothing.

Police say the stolen car was found crashed near Blackridge Reservoir.

The search area extends from the Mountain View Corridor to Rose Crest Road and Blackridge Reservoir and 13400 South.
