SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah investigators say a man who died in a rollover crash might have been trying to exit the freeway.

The Deseret News reports that 69-year-old Richard Mckay was pronounced dead on Thursday at the crash site near Brigham City, Utah.

Utah Highway Patrol says McKay's car crossed through the earthen area between the freeway and the off-ramp before hitting a post and rolling multiple times.

Mckay was wearing his seat belt but was partially ejected.

Investigators are looking into whether Mckay was trying to get to the freeway exit when he drove off the road and into the earthen patch.
