PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Officials say two workers were hurt after scaffolding malfunctioned at a work site near the historic section of Philadelphia.
Fire Capt. William Dixon says crews responded to the collapse near 4th and Walnut streets around 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police say a 23-year-old worker suffered cuts to his left arm and right leg and a 41-year-old worker had cuts to his face and right arm after the line snapped from the scaffolding, sending the apparatus plummeting 25 to 30 feet toward an adjacent roof.
Dixon says the workers were strapped into fall protection for safety and managed to lower themselves onto the roof where they were rescued. He says they were apparently working on a building's windows.
The men were taken to Jefferson Hospital. Dixon says one is in stable condition; the other man's condition wasn't immediately released.
