HUNTSVILLE, Utah (AP) — State Road 39 will reopen to all traffic for the spring and summer seasons Thursday.

The Utah Department of Transportation says the seasonal road known as Monte Cristo Highway will reopen from milepost 37 east of Huntsville to milepost 56 near Woodruff in Rich County.

The road closes for the winter months between those points for the safety of drivers and the prohibitive cost of keeping it open to traffic. The rest of the road is always open.

The department says drivers should be prepared when taking this highway as winter storms may still occur well into the summer at the highest elevations.
