WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Authorities in Delaware say a man fatally shot by police officers in Delaware last week had fired at an officer.

Police had previously said that 21-year-old Keith Price of Wilmington pointed a gun at an officer and was shot. In a statement Thursday, however, New Castle County Police say that interviews and ballistic evidence show that Price fired one bullet at the officer on April 19.

Price was wanted in an April 9 shooting. Authorities located and tried to stop him but Price refused to comply with their orders. He crashed into an empty police vehicle before driving away from the scene and later fled on foot after another crash. Police said that as an officer pursued him, Price pointed a gun at the officer and was shot.
