SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A 20-year-old Salt Lake City man has pleaded guilty to murder in a robbery-slaying that authorities say netted a package of marijuana and about $500 in cash.
Landon Kavani Johnson is facing a possible 15 years to life in state prison after admitting Monday he shot and killed 18-year-old Eric Padilla in an apartment last September.
Sentencing is scheduled May 22.
The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/2ocXFTK ) that robbery, burglary and obstructing justice charges against were dismissed under Johnson's pretrial plea agreement.
A witness reported that he recognized Johnson because a bandanna kept falling off Johnson's face while he wielded a silver handgun.
Police say Johnson was also seen on apartment complex surveillance video.
