Utah snowboarder dies after crash at ski resort

BRIGHTON, Utah (AP) — Authorities say a 35-year-old snowboarder died from his injuries after hitting a tree during the weekend at Brighton Resort.

The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/2j4L8Po ) that Markus Fritz was pronounced dead early Monday after being flown in critical condition to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray after the Sunday morning crash.

Unified police say Fritz was snowboarding with a friend at Brighton, but no one witnessed his crash.

Hours later, authorities reported that a woman in her 20s also hit a tree at the resort.

She sustained hip and head injuries, but officials said her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
