BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Ada County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of an inmate at a prison south of Boise.
The Idaho Department of Correction in a statement Monday says it requested the investigation following the death of 22-year-old Jerry Michael Cruz on Oct. 13.
The agency says correctional officers found Cruz at about 2:15 p.m. hanging in his cell at the Idaho State Correctional Institution.
The agency says correctional officers at the medium-security prison for men south of Boise immediately started lifesaving measures.
