WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Dozens of girls who are going back to school next week have Wilmington police officers to thank for their new hairdos.
The News Journal of Wilmington (http://delonline.us/2bC7KCY ) reports that dozens of girls went to Babe's Hair Salon on Wednesday to receive free haircuts, manicures and personal hygiene products.
For the second year in a row, police officers raised more than $500 to pay for the services for school-age girls with positive report cards.
Senior Cpl. Kenita Champion says she knows that having a new haircut can give a girl a boost in self-confidence prior to returning to the classroom.
The salon services continue downtown Thursday.
