ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — A piece of stolen glass art by artist Dale Chihuly worth as much as $25,000 has been recovered.
St. Petersburg police said in a news release that an employee of the Morean Arts Center discovered a box in front of the business on Tuesday. It contained the artwork stolen from the Chihuly Gallery.
The glass did not appear to be damaged.
The piece is called "Cobalt and Lavender Piccolo Venetian with Gilded Handles." Detectives are reviewing surveillance video in hopes of identifying the suspect.
Chihuly, a native of Washington state, is known for his colorful, other-worldly glass creations.
