FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A Florida Panhandle man who had 92 dead and sick cats in his home is being sent to prison for three years.
Jerry McCallam pleaded no contest Monday to felony animal cruelty and misdemeanor animal abandonment charges and admitted to violating his probation. He was then sentenced.
The Northwest Florida Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/1HKhhnx ) that McCallum's probation officer visited McCallum's Crestview home last December and found the animals.
Panhandle Animal Welfare Society officials said some of the cats were already dead and most of the others were so sick they had to be euthanized.
