RENO, Nev. (AP) — A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of a defeated Mineral County clerk candidate who says voter fraud cost him the election.
KRNV-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1HcghqK ) that Reno attorney Ken McKenna filed the civil lawsuit in Carson District Court on behalf of Chris Nepper. Nepper lost the contest for the clerk position in November 2014 to Lorraine Haight.
The Mineral County clerk reported a discrepancy in the vote-counting process involving 178 votes that did not get counted in one precinct. Nepper lost his race by 88 votes. The suit says defendants knowingly covered up the error that cost Nepper his election.
Named in the lawsuit are the state of Nevada, the Secretary of State's Office and Dominion Voting Systems. None of the named parties offered comment on the pending litigation.
