VACAVILLE, Calif. (AP) — Firefighters are making progress against a blaze there erupted last night near the Northern California city of Vacaville.
The wildfire that has burned more than 320 acres and is threatening homes, though no structures have burned yet. KCRA-TV reports that about 100 people have been evacuated.
A Vacaville city spokesman says winds gusting up to 40 mph caused the fire to spread quickly while embers sparked other fires. About 130 firefighters are on the scene and had the fire 50 percent contained as of this morning.
There's no word on what caused the blaze. California is in the midst of a four-year drought.
Vacaville is between San Francisco and Sacramento.
