SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A portion of Mill Creek Canyon will be closed as ongoing restoration work is completed.

The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/1Q5OY8Z ) that the temporary closure will begin June 8 and will extend from the winter gate at Maple Grove to the area 1 mile downstream of the Big Water trailhead.

Next week's closure will be for all walking, biking and vehicle traffic and is necessary to accommodate large construction equipment that could create hazards for the public.

Construction crews will be replacing culverts above and below Elbow Fork during the closure.
