SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say a man found dead near the Jordan River Parkway Trail had visible trauma but they have not determined his cause of death.

KSL-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1QmX73w ) that the body was found by people walking the trail Monday afternoon. Police say they have identified the man but have not yet released his name.

Salt Lake City police detective Greg Wilking says the man appeared to be in his 20s and had trauma, possibly a gunshot wound. He says no weapons were found near the body.

Wilking said Monday afternoon that police are canvassing the area and trying to find witnesses.

The man's body has been taken to the state medical examiner's office to determine the cause of death.
