YELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio (AP) — The president of a small, western Ohio liberal arts college says he's stepping down when his contract expires in December.
The Dayton Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/1H0ujhP ) Antioch College President Mark Roosevelt announced his decision Tuesday.
The former Massachusetts lawmaker and great-grandson of former President Theodore Roosevelt helped oversee a rebirth at the college after it closed in 2008 due to lagging enrollment and financial issues. It reopened in 2011 with help from an alumni-led group.
Board of Trustees Chairman Frances Degen Horowitz says the college wouldn't have made "such remarkable progress" without Roosevelt.
The first class to enroll after the college reopened in 2011 will graduate in June with a class of 20 students.
The school hopes to find a new leader by November.
