MESQUITE, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say a 78-year-old Mesquite man sped through an intersection, driving his car over a curb and into a man-made lake where he sank.
Nevada Highway Patrol troopers said Wednesday that James Matthew McMurray Jr. died after attempts to rescue him were unsuccessful.
Troopers say McMurray was driving a 2004 Chevy Impala sped north on Grapevine Road Tuesday afternoon when he attempted to turn east on Pioneer Boulevard ignoring traffic signals. Authorities say instead McMurray jumped a curb and drove through a landscaped walkway of rock and concrete before driving into the lake adjacent to a golf course.
