MANTI, Utah (AP) — The Humane Society of Utah is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person who shot a dog in Sanpete County.

The chocolate Labrador retriever was found Monday after being shot twice in the head and left for dead in the foothills of the rural county.

The dog, named Karma by rescuers, recently gave birth to a litter of puppies but they were not found in the area.

Deann Shepherd of the Humane Society says Karma is expected to recover after undergoing surgery at a Payson animal hospital, but will probably suffer permanent health problems.
