BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — The union that represents about 680 faculty and staff at the University of Vermont and officials for the school administration say they are at an impasse in efforts to agree on a new contract.
Both sides announced the impasse on Tuesday.
The Burlington Free Press (http://bfpne.ws/1q8G787) reports the union United Academics says that among the unresolved differences are salary increases and employees' share of health care plan payments.
The administration says tenure track faculty is paid just above the national average.
The faculty is now working under the terms of the old contract, which expired June 30.
Last month, UVM and the union that represents police services employees reached a two year contract deal. Negotiations are also underway with a union representing 350 service workers.
