SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — An Ogden-based bank confirms that an airplane registered to the bank was used by a Ghana mining company to take Ghanaian businessmen to Iran last week. The New York Times published a story last week revealing the presence of the plane in Iran. Executives with the Bank of Utah confirmed yesterday that the Ghana company had been using the plane. The bank said it has been cooperating with federal agencies since the plane was spotted in Iran but wouldn't comment further.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The governor's education adviser says Utah should use a new system to assess its public schools and colleges. Tami Pyfer says the state should drop its letter grade system, which gives schools a mark of A-F. The new method would track grade school reading and math proficiency rates and show kindergarten readiness.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah State Parks will hold a re-opening event on May 24 at Willard Bay State Park's North Marina, which has been closed since a fuel spill last year. Earlier this year, state officials approved a $5 million settlement with Chevron over the pipeline leak, which released 20,000 gallons of diesel fuel. The park 12 miles northwest of Ogden is one of the state's busiest.

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. (AP) — A measure to keep Navajo Nation lawmakers from serving more than 16 years in office and limit the tribal president to eight years has failed. Delegate Russell Begaye sponsored the legislation that went before the Navajo Nation Council yesterday. It did not get the 16 votes needed to pass.
