SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Officials say a wind-fueled wildfire in foothills east of Layton is now 10% contained.
U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman Kim Osborn said Tuesday morning that the fire has grown to about 365 acres (148 hectares) amid high winds in foothills east of Layton near the smaller city of Fruit Heights.
By Monday evening, all evacuations in the area had been lifted.
Osborn said fire officials suspect a lightning strike sparked the fire, but the cause is still under investigation.
The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning on Monday due to high winds around 30 mph.
Osborn said last night's rained helped with containment.
Firefighters worked to secure any hotspots in the area on Tuesday.
The fire is burning about 20 miles north of Salt Lake City.
