SKANEATELES, N.Y. (AP) — Welch Allyn continues to adjust to the rapid changes occurring in health care.
The central New York maker of medical diagnostic devices announced Tuesday it has acquired Scale-Tronix, Inc. The company, based in White Plains, New York, manufactures medical scales and patient weighing systems for hospitals, clinics and extended-care facilities.
The acquisition is the fourth for Welch Allyn in less than a year. Company president and CEO Steve Meyer says the purchase of Scale-Tronix allows Welch Allyn to better serve its hospital and physician customers.
Scale-Tronix was founded in the mid-1970s. It employs 20 people at its manufacturing facility in Carol Stream, Illinois, and 11 people at its headquarters in White Plains.
Welch Allyn, based in Skaneateles, says all employees and contractors of Scale-Tronix will be retained.
