CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A Texas man whose resume includes stints as a trial attorney and a health benefits administrator for the state of Ohio will be Nevada's new health exchange director.
The board of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange selected Bruce Gilbert on Thursday to lead the troubled exchange. Previous director Jon Hager resigned in March, saying he wanted to pursue new opportunities.
State health officials say Gilbert has expertise in implementing employee benefit programs and has overseen regional operations for a Fortune 100 health care company.
He graduated from Dickinson College and the Duquesne University School of Law, both in Pennsylvania.
The exchange has suffered from computer glitches and underwhelming enrollment numbers. Its board voted in May to terminate a $75 million contract with Xerox, the company that operated the system.
