SALT LAKE CITY -- Two years after an incredible senior season at BYU, record-setting Cougar QB John Beck was cut by the Miami Dolphins.
Miami reportedly shopped Beck leading up to the 2009 NFL Draft, but when nothing could be worked out and the Dolphins picked West Virginia quarterback Pat White in the second round, Beck's fate was sealed. The team now has starter Chad Pennington, backup Chad Henne (who has impressed Bill Parcells and Head Coach Tony Sporano with his quick development) and Pat White.
Beck was taken in the second round of the 2007 draft and pushed into the starting position on a collapsing team in the 11th week of his rookie season by then Head Coach Cam Cameron. Taking minimal snaps with the starters, Beck went 0-4 starting as a rookie, played in five games, fumbled seven times and threw three interceptions. He did not play last year under new coach Sparano.
