MURRAY — A man seriously burned in a motor home fire last week has died from his injuries, authorities say.

The 62-year-old man was "cooking and went to complete some laundry" in his motor home, parked near the intersection of Cherry Street and Jensen Lane (about 4550 South) on Jan. 14 when a fire broke out, according to a tweet from Murray police. The man was burned on both of his legs and arms, in addition to suffering respiratory injuries.

The man was transported to Intermountain Medical Center before being flown to the University of Utah Burn Center via medical helicopter where he died a week later, according to a tweet from the Murray Fire Department Thursday. The agency later said the man died Tuesday.

Murray Fire Department said they would not be releasing the man's name.

On Jan. 14 the man was alert and talking with hospital personnel when he was transported to the hospital, Murray Fire Battalion Chief Dave Florin said.

The motor home was parked off the street away from nearby buildings, officials said, and the man was the only occupant in the motor home when it caught fire. The vehicle was extensively damaged, according to Florin, and it took about one minute to put the fire out when firefighters arrived.

The exact cause of the fire has not yet been released.
