PARK CITY — A woman is in "very serious" condition after being hit by a car in Park City on Thursday morning, officials say.
The incident took place just before 7 a.m. near the intersection of Homestake Road and Park Avenue in Park City.
The woman was in a crosswalk at the intersection and the crosswalk lights were flashing when a northbound black SUV drove through the crosswalk and hit her, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. A doctor was nearby and stopped to help, but the woman was in "very serious" condition, UHP said.

The male SUV driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with authorities, UHP said. It is unclear why he drove through the crosswalk.
Northbound lanes of Park Avenue were closed between Homestake Road and Kearns Boulevard, but they were later reopened in the morning after the scene was cleared.
The driver is not a local resident, according to UHP Lt. Randall Richey, but it wasn't immediately known if the woman was a local resident.
Richey urged drivers to remain vigilant when looking for pedestrians.
“It’s extremely busy up here. There are a ton of pedestrians everywhere so you always have to watch for pedestrians,” he said.
The incident is under investigation.
