ST. GEORGE — Police seized close to $1 million worth of cocaine and marijuana in luggage on a Greyhound bus in St. George on Monday.
Officers were conducting a routine search on the bus, which was stopped at a Texaco station at 1572 S. Convention Center Drive in St. George about 5:43 p.m., according to St. George police officer Tiffany Atkin. Washington County Sheriff’s Office dog Vinny and St. George police dog Emma searched the bus, according to a Facebook post from St. George police.
The dogs alerted officers to the odor of illegal narcotics. Officers then discovered about 14 pounds of cocaine and about 13 pounds of marijuana in some luggage that was in a compartment on the bus.
The cocaine is estimated to be worth about $780,000, while the marijuana is estimated at $127,000, according to Atkin.
No one was arrested after the discovery because no one on the bus claimed the luggage, Atkin said.
