ST. GEORGE — A 69-year-old man from Mesquite, Nevada, died Tuesday in a crash about 10 miles west of St. George, Washington County Sheriff’s officials said.

The crash occurred at Old Highway 91 and Mine Road. Authorities said the driver lost control and drove his GMC Sierra truck off the side of the roadway.

The truck rolled and landed upright. Witnesses tried to extricate the driver, who was pinned in the truck, sheriff’s officials said in a news release.

However, witnesses stopped their attempts after the man died from his injuries.

When law enforcement and medical teams got to the scene, the driver was pronounced dead.

The man’s name was not released.

The crash is under investigation, Washington County Sheriff’s officials said.
