MIDVALE — A woman was found dead at a motel in Midvale on Tuesday, Unified police said.
About 1 p.m., a woman in her 50s or 60s was found dead by a housekeeper, police said. Her death is being treated as a homicide, although it’s not confirmed if she was killed.
“In the event that this turns out to be a homicide, we want to have everything we potentially need,” said UPD Sgt. Melody Gray.
Police are working to find out if someone was with the woman in the room. The violent crime unit was called to respond to the scene as well, according to police.
The investigation at the Motel 6, 7263 Catalpa St., was announced to media Tuesday shortly after 5 p.m.
Investigators questioned motel guests and staff to see if they heard or saw anything.
Police don’t know if the woman was registered at the motel room she was found in.
There were no signs of obvious trauma to the woman but police won’t know her cause of death until after an autopsy from the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office is completed.
