SANDY — Police on Friday identified a man who died after falling from a billboard in Sandy.

John Bytendorp, 66, died after falling from the billboard near 9931 S. 300 West about 9:45 a.m. Thursday, according to Sandy Police Sgt. Jason Nielson.

Bytendorp was working on the billboard along with another person when he fell, witnesses told police. There were also people at the base of the billboard when he fell, Nielson said.

Nielson added Friday that there was nothing suspicious about the man’s fall, and it appeared to be a tragic accident.

A gofundme has been set up to support Bytendorp's family.

No other information about the fall was available Friday.
