SALT LAKE CITY — A natural gas leak in Sugar House forced evacuations at a CVS Pharmacy and KFC and A&W restaurant Wednesday morning, officials said.

Crews were on scene at 2100 S. 1300 East monitoring the leak's spread and have since shut off the gas, according to Salt Lake Fire Capt. Adam Archuleta. Officials closed westbound 2100 South from 1700 East to 1300 East about 11:15 a.m., and the road will remain closed until crews are sure the area is safe.

Patrons of CVS and the restaurant have reentered the buildings, Archuletta said.
