PRICE, Carbon County — FBI officials believe a bank robbery in Price Thursday afternoon was committed by a man they say has robbed seven banks in six states over the past three weeks.

Police responded to a report of a robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank in Price, 180 E. Main, about 4 p.m. Thursday, Price Police Capt. William Barnes said in a statement. A man entered the bank and left with cash, Barnes said. Officials did not disclose the amount the man took.

The man then fled the scene in a “creamish-colored” Ford Explorer believed to be a limited 2010 model, according to Barnes. Nobody was injured in the robbery.

Police said the vehicle had an “out-of-state” back license plate, side window guards, a luggage rack, step runners and a sunroof. Barnes said the vehicle was last seen traveling east on 100 South

On Friday, FBI officials tweeted that the robbery was connected to the “Traveling Bandit” who is accused of robbing seven banks in six states since Dec. 28: in Aventura, Florida; Asheville, North Carolina; Johnson City, Tennessee; Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; Prattsville, Alabama and Mt. Vernon, Illinois prior to Thursday’s robbery in Price.

FBI officials said in a statement nobody has been injured in the seven robberies, but the man “usually approaches the counter and presents a note demanding money and threatening a weapon.”

The man was described as white, 5-foot-10, and about 180 to 200 pounds, Barnes said. He added he has brown hair and goatee with gray highlights in both. He was wearing a black hat with a Chevrolet logo, blue jeans and a "greenish-tint woodland camouflage jacket with a hood" on Thursday.

FBI officials added the man is estimated to be 40 to 50 years old and has tattoos on both arms.

Anyone with information about the man is encouraged to call the FBI at 754-703-2000, the Salt Lake City field office at 801-579-1400 or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov.
