MURRAY — Three more men were arrested in connection with a shooting that injured two people and created panic at Fashion Place mall Sunday afternoon.

Flaviano Aguilar, 20, was arrested and booked into Salt Lake County Jail Wednesday evening on suspicion of riot and obstruction of justice, according to an affidavit filed in 3rd District Court. Court records listed Park City as his most recent residence.

Steven Perez-Hernandez, 18, and Arian Huerta, 20, were also arrested Wednesday, according to other affidavits filed in 3rd District Court. Both were arrested on suspicion of riot in connection with the shooting Sunday and also failure to stop an officer’s command.

Jesus J. Payan-Mendoza and Jorge Luis Crecencio-Gonzalez, both 19, were arrested Sunday for investigation of attempted aggravated murder and felony discharge of a firearm. All five men were members of the "Florencia 13" gang, according to the affidavit.

Murray police tweeted Friday morning, “the shooters themselves are still outstanding.”

Police from all over Salt Lake County responded to a shooting at Fashion Place mall, 6191 S. State St., about 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Murray police officer Kenny Bass said Monday that two gangs happened upon one another at the mall in what appeared to be a chance meeting.

“All parties agreed to go outside and continue the confrontation when one member from each gang pulled out firearms and exhange (sic) gunfire during business hours,” according to the affidavits filed in Aguilar’s and Arian's arrests.

The five men who were arrested all had left the scene after the shooting, police said. Bass said Monday that there were five people in the gang that included the two victims, and five to seven people in the "Florencia 13" gang.

Police allege Aguilar “engaged in activity to further prevent the apprehension of another suspect by sending him money via application to a known acquaintance," the affidavit for his arrest stated.

Both Perez-Hernandez and Huerta were present for the confrontation where the shooting occurred, police said in affidavits filed in their arrests.

Perez-Hernandez was located in West Valley City by members of the Salt Lake County Metro Gang Unit. He attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended, according to the affidavit for his arrest. Police also attempted to arrest Huerta during a traffic stop before he fled on foot, got picked up by someone and taken to a house, according to the affidavit for his arrest.

Authorities located Huerta at the house he was taken to. Huerta was then arrested after he tried to flee the home, the affidavit for his arrest added. The affidavits did not state whether the men were located at the same traffic stop.

The affidavit for Aguilar’s arrest didn’t state where Aguilar was arrested Wednesday.

Court records show Huerta was convicted of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, a third-degree felony, in 2017. The court issued a warrant for his arrest Friday for violating probation terms related to that conviction, according to court records. The warrant ordered that he be taken to Summit County Jail.

He also has convictions in other drug-related cases.

Court records show Aguilar and Perez-Hernandez have no previous major criminal history in Utah.
