PROVO — Provo police are investigating the death of a 64-year-old woman after a fisherman found her body in the Provo River Monday evening.

Kathleen Lewis' body was discovered about 5 p.m. near 900 N. 800 West, close to her home. Police believe she was in the river for a short time, according to a post on the Provo Police Department's Facebook page.

Officials say Lewis' injuries are consistent with falling down the bank and hitting her head, "but a body in the river is obviously suspicious, and we are pursuing every investigative opportunity to learn what happened," police said.

Police do not currently suspect foul play and have not identified any persons of interest, but are urging the public to contact officers if they saw Lewis in the park or have any information about her activities Monday.

Those with information can contact the Provo police at 801-852-6210.
