Decapitated buck found near Lost Creek Reservoir in Morgan County
A headless buck was discovered in a field near Lost Creek Reservoir in Morgan County on Oct. 3, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources officials said on the agency's website. Investigators believe the buck was illegally killed with a rifle on the night of Oct. 2 or during the early-morning hours of Oct. 3.
The buck’s head was removed, but the body was left to waste, officials said. The carcass was found about 2.5 miles below the reservoir on Lost Creek Road and about 8 miles north of the town of Croydon, Morgan County.
Doe deer illegally shot near Ebb’s Canyon in Millard County
A doe was illegally shot near Ebb’s Canyon in Millard County on or around Oct. 12 during the early “any legal weapon” buck deer hunt, wildlife officials said on the agency’s website.
The female mule deer was intentionally shot and the carcass was left to waste, officials said.
There were no doe deer hunts open at the time, wildlife officials said.
Doe illegally shot near Hancock Flat in Sevier County
Another doe was illegally shot near Hancock Flat in Sevier County on or around Sept. 28 during the muzzleloader buck deer hunt, wildlife officials said on the agency’s website.
This deer was intentionally shot from the road and was also left to waste, investigators said.
Doe illegally shot with arrow near East McKee Road in Uintah County
A dead doe was discovered with an arrow in her neck south of East McKee Road off Highway 191 in Uintah County on Aug. 22, wildlife officials said on the agency’s website. Investigators believe the animal was probably killed earlier that day during an archery hunt.
The animal’s carcass was discovered near Reader Creek and the historic Stringhams Cabin.
"Rewards are available" for information regarding the decapitated buck, and request for confidentiality is respected, the agency said on its website. Those with any information can call the hotline at 800-662-3337.
