ROY — An 81-year-old man who Roy police were trying to locate has been found safe, police said Friday morning.

Ron Canter appears to be in good health and has been reunited with family, according to a Facebook post from the Roy Police Department.

Canter was last seen at 8:30 p.m. Thursday near his home in the area of 3400 West and 6000 South in Roy. He drove away in a silver 2000 Chevy Venture van with a large "Retired Air Force" sticker on the back, police said.

Canter was said to have dementia and would not know where home is, the post stated. It also called his behavior out of character for him.

Details of how and where he was located were not immediately available.
