PARLEY'S CANYON — Eastbound I-80 in Parleys Canyon reopened a little before 9 a.m. after a four-vehicle crash caused serious delays Thursday morning, officials said.
A driver rear-ended a truck that was towing a flatbed trailer and was flown to a hospital in serious condition via medical helicopter, Utah Highway Patrol officials tweeted. Four vehicles were involved in the crash, and one other person was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injures. All other injuries were treated on scene.
Troopers closed all but one lane of the highway about 7 a.m. but reopened a second lane a little over an hour later, according to tweets from the Utah Highway Patrol. The closures began at the junction with Lambs Canyon and ended about 4 miles later near S. Mount Aire Road.
The highway is now open, but commuters are still experiencing delays of about 45 minutes, according to the KSL Traffic Center.
