NEPHI — A 14-year-old girl who was killed in an ATV accident earlier this week had recently told her parents she wanted to be an organ donor if anything ever happened to her.
Camron Ostler made the announcement to her parents after a discussion in health class at Juab Junior High before graduating recently, Principal Ken Rowley said Friday.
"She has given that gift and helped five other people out" after the Monday accident, Rowley said.
Friends, classmates and others at a vigil at the school Friday remembered her as a compassionate and friendly student. They sent balloons into the air to remember Ostler, first writing messages on the balloons telling her how much they missed her.
On Monday, crews brought Camron to Central Valley Medical Center in Nephi in an ambulance, then a helicopter flew her to a hospital in Salt Lake City after the crash.
The teen succumbed to her injuries sometime after that, Nephi Police Capt. Bert Wright said in a Friday email.
Police are releasing few details about the death.
A fundraising page has been set up to help her family recover funeral and hospital costs.
