SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Miss Nebo Krissia Beatty has been crowned Miss Utah, topping a field of 50 other contestants from across the state.
Saturday night's state pageant in Salt Lake City marked the end of a week of preliminary competition and the start of Beatty's one-year reign that will see her take her platform — "Live Well — Change the Focus" — across Utah.
Beatty won a $10,000 scholarship and advances to the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in September.
The Deseret News reports 10 finalists were selected Saturday based on preliminary competition scores.
Beatty won a swimsuit award in preliminary competition earlier in the week.
