LONE PEAK — A 3-year-old girl was rescued from a pond and taken to the hospital in serious condition after a near-drowning experience Tuesday, officials said.

The girl was swimming with her father at Highland Glenn Pond, located in a gully behind Lone Peak High School, at about 3:45 p.m., according to Joe McRae of Lone Peak Fire. She was unconscious and not breathing when pulled out of the water, he said.

The girl was semi-conscious after a Highland City Employee performed CPR, McRae said. A medical helicopter then took her to Primary Children’s Hospital.

This is the third near drowning at the Lone Peak District in three months, according to McRae. The pond is about two or three acres in size, he estimated.

More updates will be made as they become available.
