CEDAR CITY (AP) — A 41-year-old man has been ordered to stand trial on charges he shot and injured an Iron County sheriff's deputy last December.
Fifth District Judge John Walton on Wednesday ruled there was sufficient evidence to try Grant Biedermann on two felony charges of attempted aggravated murder and a misdemeanor count of carrying a dangerous weapon while under the influence.
Biedermann is accused of opening fire after Deputy Kellen Hudson and two other deputies responded to the Red Lodge Campground in Kanarraville on a report of a suicidal man.
Hudson received a gunshot wound to the hip and was treated and released.
A bullet grazed Biedermann's head during the confrontation, and he was later flown to a Salt Lake City hospital after he developed bleeding on the brain.
The Spectrum of St. George reports Biedermann remains in the county jail pending trial.
