MAGNA — A man rescued a dog from a fire at a neighbor's house Sunday in Magna.

Crews received a report of a house fire around 2 p.m., according to Chris Atkin, paramedic specialist with the Unified Fire Department. The fire was called in as a two-alarm fire.

Atkin said the neighbor attempted to put out the fire himself. He also rescued a dog in the house.

The neighbor received treatment for minor smoke inhalation, but Atkin said the man would be released at the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it appeared to Atkin that the fire started outside and made its way into the attic above the garage and affected some of the living space.

No one was inside the home at the time of the fire.
